Hi there,

i'm wanting to get a cheap apple laptop, so that i can then buy Logic Express and use it.

Obviously i have held of buying a laptop until the macbooks come out, I was wonderingwill i have to be a more premium macbook if the low end model is a core solo intel?

From what most sites are reporting, all MacBook models seem to be CoreDuos, so I think that with enough RAM you should be ok with Logic Express, but then again I've never used it.

Ram is very important with Logic Express as World Leader Pretend speculated.

As for Core Solo, probably not alot of people could really say.

Yes.

The Core Due has twice as many cores as the Core Solo, effectively making it twice as fast for threaded apps. That's a big difference.

For me, 'cheap laptop' and digital audio editing program, don't go together in the same sentence. If you're going to be using even a modest number of plug-ins with your work, you'll quickly be frustrated with a lower-end laptop.

then i suppose i've gotta hope it stays at £699/$999 and has core duo as standard! what are the chances of that?!

Pretty slim (sorry, I couldn't tell if that was a question or not). You're more likely going to see a cheaper (around $1000) Core Solo model and a more expensive ($1299-1399) Core Duo model.
