I'm in the market for a new camera. My Rebel XT has been faithful to me over the past 16 years... however it is antiquated by today's standards to say the least. I have a handful of lenses for it so I'm not sure I want to completely ditch them though none are "L".

I started this thread to get an idea of what is out there. I've been a fan of Canon over Nikon but at this point I know I should be open. I always wanted a pro series camera (full frame, bells and whistles, etc...) but I'm not doing paid photo shoots at all anymore and don't plan to start again. I guess you can put me into the advanced photo bug category, just professionally trained.

What is the "standard" now? Seems to be mirrorless is rising but not there, or is it? Where should I start looking? I want the versatility of changing my lens and solid images. I'm not really worries about videos, though apparently that is standard now.

I started out with Canon, moved to Nikon for a bit, but have now settle on the Sony A7 series.

The sensors in the Sonys are just so good at this point.

We have an A7 II and an A7 II that we have different lenses on. Done a few photos shoots for people, but mostly just taking pictures of my daughter and wherever we travel to at this point.

I've heard about those for bloggers so I guess I'll take a look at them. I never really gave credence to Sony but maybe I should. Especially since I'm really "starting over".

Man, having to work through all new lenses and everything is starting to really look like more than I want to put into this. The 6D Mark II is looking like a great deal. My lenses work and this camera isn't horribly outdated. I only have three lenses and none are "L" but still...

6D II isn’t known for being a great camera, and it is rather outdated. For the dollars spent it just isn’t a good deal. Kind of a bad time to look at DSLRs, they are all being phased out. The Sony A series is kind of the thing to beat right now. I didn’t buy Sony, but that’s just because I avoid the brand.
