I'm at 11.9GB right now.

How have you guys accumulated so much free space? I've only got 4.25 GB.
Is it mostly referrals or what? |

I've accumulated so much free space it isn't funny. After completing the quest, I'm almost to 30GB on a free account. I've completed every offer for free space (both quests, the beta photo upload for 4gb, etc). But what gave me the biggest boost was when I maxed out all of my referrals. At one point, when I was just starting with Dropbox, I was on a paid account so all of my referrals had a bigger impact. I may be wrong, but I think when I switched back to free, the referral space stayed the same.

I never learn about their special free space offers, I gotta find a place that keeps track of this stuff...
As for referrals, I don't know that many techie people - maybe I should post it in my Facebook... User formally known as Sh0eWax |

For my referrals, I actually got pretty lucky. I wrote a blog post years ago (when the blog still existed) detailing how to use Dropbox to keep iPhoto libraries in sync across systems. The post ended up being the most popular thing I ever wrote and was the largest driver of traffic to the site. The post had my referral link and so within days I had maxed out the allowable invites. This was only about a year or so after Dropbox launched. Even now, my referral page on Dropbox is over four pages long and filled with no one I actually know. A few years back Dropbox increased the amount of referrals one could use for free space and my free space shot up, since all the referrals were already completed. If they ever do the same thing again, I guess I'll get another nice boost. |

Dropbox is freakin' brilliant. I tried to explain iCloud to my mother-in-law with no success (partly because I don't understand how to work with files on it) but she got Dropbox instantly when I told her what it is. Believe me, if my MIL can get something that quickly, it's a really well executed idea.

Dropbox might be my favorite "app" ever. It's simply brilliant.
Most of my important stuff lives on Dropbkx these days. Always just a few clocks away. |

Bringing an old thread back from the dead rather than start a new one.
Am I the only one who has LAN sync enabled but see all my sync traffic pass via my WAN? I get nothing from LAN sync at all. All my machines max my bandwidth uploading and downloading from Dropbox on every file change. This isn't always a big deal, but when I'm doing larger file sets it makes a big difference.
