This is probably a stupid question but. . .

I have been using EyeTV and exporting them to Toast 6 to burn DVDs to free up disk space. My kids burned a 3.25 hour TV movie the other night and when I exported it to Toast, it was too big. I tried importing it into FCE 2, iDVD, iMovie but none of these apps would do it. I search Apple forums but could not find out anything about how I might do this. Is there a way?

Any help or pointing in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
