Watch this at least 3-4 minutes.
http://media.putfile.com/HydroFoam Brad, I know this is a little non-descript ... but I don't want to give too much away. |

Old news.
Still a cool video, though. |

RC airplanes that look like lawnmowers are much cooler.

That thing looks like great fun ... but Ernest (the director and pilot) needs to be told that his video could do with some much snappier editing! Far too long and self indulgent me thinks.

Jet engine - cool.
... but damn, you've seen one plane do a fly-pass ... you've seen them all! What is it with these model airplane buffs and their penchant for extended 12" remix versions of what should be a short film? |

For the Star Wars set... not quite interstellar spacecraft, but flying models of them...
Lots of clever ducting of engines through foam... Millenium Falcon that flies, etc... Some with links to construction plans, plenty of photos. |

*ahem* not that I think I'd ever actually manage (or perhaps have the motivation) to build one though |

That mower video ( http://www.monsterrccentral.com/rcvideos/skycutter.mov ) ... seriously made me come dangerously close to spewing cereal all over my powerbook.
I was dying. |

Fucking WMP... both B52 videos get stuck in mid-take off and the thing freezes / won't buffer the remainder in correctly. Anyway that model (was) pretty amazing I must say. Took a lot of work to get that thing right at that scale. Fuel tanks and all... what a buzz kill to have it crash and burn though.
...into the light of a dark black night. |

Good call. Not sure why I didn't think of that; done it many times with other file types. That Aviation Links page is very cool. The Spitfire flyby of the newscrew is hilarious.

Yeah, I spent a bunch of time at that site today. The amount of training that those F-15 pilots receive must really become second nature to them. He seemed very calm and methodical - don't know whether or not he survived though.
Did you see the Boeing 707 prototype roll, with the pilot's commentary? He was a very cool customer. And the news chopper that crashed - and all survived ... which was good to know. Then there was the plane that flew under the motorbike as the guy on the bike jumped over the plane. Hmmm - I did kill some time over there. |

One thing missing from the 707 roll interview was that they did it in front of about 50,000 spectators at SeaFair during the hydroplane races. They announced that Boeing was unveiling its new jetliner, and a good portion of the crowd thought it was going to crash when it started the roll. Then it completed it, and everyone went nuts.
Heck of a public rollout. *rimshot* |
