is there any software that can show me hard disk access? like a blinking icon in the dock or something? i still would like the sleep light to show hard drive access



Use Google to search for a app called MenuMeters, it gives you info on your CPU useage, RAM useage, Disk Activity, and Network/Internet useage. It will present all the info you want right in your menu bar.

Yup. MenuMeters is good. I use it for its network access and CPU-usage options.

DiskSpy is another app that works similarly. Note on that page that "DiskSpy" is free and "DiskSpy Solid" is not.
