Wifey and I had a nice party last night in line with 22 other people waiting for the Wii. Now, the unboxing commences!

Pretty boxes.

Two panels slide out from the main box, but not very well. They are not self-contained and if you're not careful, stuff will fall out everywhere. As you can see, they are backwards with respect to the outside packaging. Not a great out-of-box experience, but not terrible either.

Here are the contents of those two panels.

The Wii is amazingly small. That's my foot next to it (and leg in Mario pants -- gotta be sportin' for the big event!)

I can't say much more. Now I'm off for some Zelda and Excite Truck.

You know what they say about guys with small feet?

They need to use small props to feel big.

mmmm, i'm likely insane and or lucky or insanely lucky...or just insane

i went to costco this am with my wife to buy food for thanksgiving dinner...when i get there i see a line of people...i ask them what they are waiting for, thinking it might be wiis...they say "wiis, the guy up front is handing out tickets" so i walk back up front and ask the guy, he hands me a ticket and then yells out, "that was the last tickey, no more wiis"...so i have this ticket and i wasn't sure i was even going to buy it...but it was a nice bundle, the console, excite truck and zelda for under cost...336 bucks...

well i have a wii coming from walmart on tuesday...but zelda hasn't even shipped yet...so i bought the bundle...figure i'll return the walmart wii and zelda when they come in...at least this way i get to play today...

getting my component cables and SD card tomorrow from ups...so i just have one day to see how horrid composite cables are...might take some side by side images to compare

will put up photos soon...

Costco bundle...not too many games, not too expensive...nicely done...

i do like the first walmart bundle...it was more expensive, but it came with an extra remote and nunchuck and also wii points...but two games is nicer than the 4 walmart wanted...

when my walmart bundle comes in i will return the console and zelda, but i will keep the other games and the other add ons

thought the remote would be bigger...very small

console is also small...the height of a dvd box

now i'm just gonna play some and wait for my component cables, coming tomorrow 100% yeah, before i try zelda... and waiting on my wii points so i can try some old games too

but for now it is sports and excite truck (one i was going to rent instead of own, but not the end of the world...should be fun) for me

So you can download old games, right? Where do they live? On a hard drive? Burned to a CD/DVD? Online?

I didn't take pics of mine but it's nothing all that interesting. Wii, Zelda and extra wiimote and nunchuck. Wii sports rocks. Boxing, though it's very simple, was super fun with my wife. I wish I had N stock right now.

If it's not red and showing substantial musculature, you're wearing it wrong.

For those of you who didn't get one (like me), here's a live video feed of a guy playing his Wii for a week...

The sad thing is, I want to spend the next week watching it.

I want one, but consoles aren't practical for me right now. Maybe if I get into an apartment this spring like I'm hoping, I'll pick one up. As long as I'm in the dorms, though, getting back into the console scene will have to wait.

i thought the remote was really small, but it is really the perfect size...works great for all people...we just played sports and excite truck for the last basically five hours...had my niece (10) and my kids and my brother and my sister in law all playing...about 7 of us all together having a blast...

don't see that happening with the other consoles...but the other consoles will be a hit with the 14 to 28 year old boys...

though my almost son in law has a xbox 360, he loves it...i also know that he played the wii alot today and told my daughter that he wants one for christmas...so maybe i won't return my walmart wii when it comes it

bowling was great...tennis was fun, but i need to play it with a second remote so we can play two player...boxing was more fun than i thought it would be, but it isn't the most responsive...it moves well, but some motions are misread...

haven't tried baseball or golf yet...

excite truck is also really fun...it is kinda easy, but you can make it harder by trying more stunts...plus you really get a work out as the controller adds a ton of emotion and movement and tension to the driving

had a blast today...plus i love making the miis for the sports games...very sims like...gave my mii grey hair and all

Unfortunately, I've had nothing but problems with the wireless setup. It connects fine to my neighbor's open network, but it spins and spins and eventually throws an error when trying to connect to my password-protected WPA network. I've tried every option to no avail. I'll be researching this further.

edit: Resolved. See next page.

me, eh, let my neighbors use my bandwidth if they want

haven't downloaded any games from the wii store...to busy playing...might do one tonight just to check it out
