Okay, I think I might be under a huge cloud of delusion here. I was watching part of the opening for the Olympics yesterday, and I noticed that many of the U.S. athletes were wearing Roots clothing. Is it just me, or wasn't Roots a very patriotic Canadian clothing company? Maybe I'm just off base again... but every Canadian I meet brags about how Roots is like their Gap, etc.

Never heard of 'em. I thought you were talking about this:
And needless to say, I was confused. Why would athletes be wearing shirts about video games? |

Roots is sold in nordstrom's, marshall field's among other department stores, and has some store's here and there. Beverly Hills to name one.
Roots invented the cool shopping bag tradition, a tradition apple carries on today. edit: shift option k doesn't work at applenova? "What's a Canadian farm boy to do?" |

Roots has dressed both the Canadian and US Olympic teams since Salt Lake City, and the Canadian team since Atlanta, IIRC. During Salt Lake's Olympics, the gear sold out in the US. Canadian Roots stores were mobbed by tourists searching out the pale blue US gear, and many an eBay auction by Canucks resold some Roots for extra profit (probably still a deal considering the exchange rate).
The Roots Airline didn't launch at an auspicious time, but apparently their inflight 'gifts' rocked. Gorgeous leather toiletries kits, suitbags and luggage... stylish but pricey. |
