I was not sure if this should go here or not, but I really like the content management system AN uses and was wondering what it was, or what it was based on. IF this is in the wrong spot i apologize, please move it.

So you use mambo for the front page? I thought you had to credit them.

The www front end is Mambo. It's an open source project and is free.

The forums are run by vBulletin 3, a commercial software that alcimedes here paid for out of the kindness of his heart.

Hey, keep it on topic both of you. You both know better than to bring this crap into a thread like this.

You're right, mentioning it here was a mistake. It happened a few days ago anyway... I apologize for bringing it up.

I have used mambo before, you have violated the TOS for mambo which states you must leave their link and © in there. You didn't do that

Actually doing a search reveals:

5. May I remove "powered by Mambo, Copyright Miro etc" from the footer?

Yes you can although we would hope that you would retain it as a badge of honour.

and we will happily pimp mambo whenever we can, because for an opensource CMS, it does more than one could have hoped. However, we are in violation of no agreement with Mambo or the open source community. Should we ever find ourselves in that position, we would hastily remedy that situation.

Thanks for your concern, but at this time, we are not in violation of any agreement, signed or implicitly implied otherwise.

Did you read 6?

6. May I remove the "copyright" statements from the source code to Mambo?

No, you must keep all copyright notices and credits in the source code.

That's a small picture for a large asscarnival.

The FAQ EXPLICITLY and UNEQUIVOCALLY states that you are allowed to remove the copyright notice from the web page footer. Game, set and match.

Yes but you must keep the © in the source code according to #6. They did not do that, there for they are in violation of the license.

I did not know that. I was asking what they were using cause it looks nice and there is no credit given anywhere. Why are you playing me out to be like the worst thing possible?

Is your sole purpose here to annoy us, T&A? Please move along to greener pastures if that is the case. I have yet to see any positive contribution from you to these forums.

This thread has long since outlived its usefulness.

Actually, I'm unlocking this thread to point something out.

Before you go making a fool of yourself by calling Teh Interweb Police, maybe you should learn what exactly "source code" is and how PHP works.

Hint: you never see the source code.

The source code of all of our files does contain the copyright information. See the attachment below.

So, again, we were right in the first place and I should never have had to go to such lengths to prove this.

I was under the impression that this had to be visible on the main page. I apologize
(on a side note, can we make the text in the quick reply box black or something that has better contrast with the white?)

Thanks Brad, I was just going to ask you to unlock this thread so we could point that out to this little asshat.

Jesus H *CHRIST* T&A, do you sit around dreaming up ways to make yourself look like an idiot and annoy people from the get-go? I can't remember the last time anyone wandered onto a board and made as bad an impression as you have. Insulting, accusatory, and in every case *wrong*. Good lord.

Before you start accusing anyone of breaking some regulation/agreement you *MIGHT* want to go find out the basics of what terminology included in that agreement means.

You actually thought 'source code' meant the *HTML*? And you run a website?

I guess that just goes to show that any monkey can.

You started out mildly amusing, in a train wreck of clowns sort of way, but you've since gone straight into village idiot status. Annoying village idiot at that.

I'm sure the powers that be are anxiously itching to accommodate your wishes, swell guy you've been and all. They'll get right on that, no doubt.
