So I have this window in Compressor that's been moved so far to the right, that it's passed beyond the border of my screen. I only see the three buttons top-left, but I can't get the mouse into an area where I can drag the entire window back into the screen area. Has anyone a solution to this?

try changing your display to a lower resolution - that should force all open windows to move into the new viewable area

No it didn't help, but somehow I got that pixel under my mousepoint to grab the entire windows. So solved, but don't quite know how...

Somewhat related;

Whenever I unplug my second screen some apps (like Opera) resize wrong so that the moveable area is behind the finder bar. closing and reopening gets quite annoying after a while.

Is there a keyboard shortcut to move the currently active window? some combination to move the top-left of the active window to the current location of the cursor? Or perhaps a shortcut for the green "maximize" button?

It's the "zoom" button, not "maximize".

That said, any decent app should have a Window menu which contains a Zoom item. Try that.

Although, it appears that once again Opera eschews standard Mac UI conventions and omits this menu item. At least Firefox gets it right.
