I was trying to go to a website and I am getting this warning. It happens in Firefox also is this legit or do I have an issue with my Mac?

Not an issue with your Mac. A similar warning comes up when I try to visit that site with Firefox on Windows. Doesn't affect IE, but then IE isn't known for being a secure browser.
Somehow, that site got on some anti-malware blacklist. I've had it happen before to sites that shouldn't have been on there. |

I visited the site with IE and it looked just like any other forum. It's probably safe. In fact there are probably people discussing the issue in their feedback forum.

I seem to recall that one time Applenova got blacklisted due to some kind of spammer piggybacking and injecting their junk. I never saw that myself but there was also a discussion about that few years and Brad fixed it up - it actually was external to Applenova server IIRC.

Although to be fair, there have been a variety of cross platform attacks that could be deployed via a web page. I'd certainly think twice before continuing.

Often, the malware is being hosted by an advertising provider who deploys ads on the page in question. Makes for tracking down what's going on really quite a pain.

Yeah, more often than not (as far as I can tell), the warning pops up if a site is the victim of a cross-site scripting attack, even if it isn't the one actually hosting the attack in question. Clicking the link in the warning gives you more info about what specifically was reported and/or detected, and what domain(s) the attack was actually coming from.

What happens is that a site gets hacked (forums are particularly targetted for this sort of thing) and the hacker puts malware on the site. The blacklist operator then (quite reasonably) adds the site to the list. Then the site owner fixes the issues - but the blacklist doesn't get updated. It's a pain in the ass.
