I'm starting this thread because there has been interest among a few photographers in the colour photography thread to start a AN mini challenge. Everyone who has a camera, and a few free minutes is welcome to take part! This isn't about prizes or even who has the best shot, but more about seeing different things and for those of us who's hobby is photography, to break out of the norm.

Here are a few ideas from the colour photography thread:

A few ideas from me:
* Park benches, this could be wide open, anything from just different views of a bench itself to what can one see from a park bench (but the bench needs to be in the shot)
* Oldest building in your city/town
* Graffiti
* High Key/Low key
* From the cameras point of view. if you have a second camera, take a photo of your camera, setup for a shot in a setting of your choice, although this would be limited to tripod photography most like, or have a photo of a photographer, maybe even yourself shooting away

If anyone has any ideas, but it has to be something that people all over the world can do, without having to drive for an hour, as we would like everyone to be able to take part. I think we'll wait a few days and get some ideas and then make a selection. We should also decide if we want to make some rules, if any.

Best Photo with Lens Cap on?

Best Thumb?

I would totally own the blurry WTF-was-that-supposed-to-be category.

Here's something really sad. I was looking through pictures I took overseas with a disposable and my fingers were in more shots than the ruins. Really, my images looked like Fred Flintstone took all of them.

Worst photo taken with the best camera? I've taken some real stinkers with my Digital Rebel. The way I see it, anybody can take bad pictures with low level cameras. It takes skill to get a truly awful picture out of an SLR.

Here is my entry. I took a look back through my files for something interesting, and I found this shot from December. Not exactly 50 paces, but close enough.

Took this a little over 30 minutes ago, just outside my front door.

Took this from my balcony a few days ago. This is the shot that made me start lusting after a telephoto

Maybe more like 100 paces from my front door, so I'm cheating a little.

Taken just now. The spot the pic was taken from is right at the end of my little street, almost exactly 50 paces from my front door.

The lemon tree in my backyard. Pretty sure it's less than 50 paces (though that may be from the back door.)

I'm liking this challenge. Forced creativity...and we get to see what it's like where people live. Nice pictures all around. I took a few snaps outside my door last night...and hopefully will be able to post them tonight or tomorrow.

For those that have already posted, the rules allow more than one entry, so feel free. And for those that have not posted, consider contributing. It would be nice to get a better sense of where various Novians live.

I might have another photo tomorrow, we are having our driveway redone, so there is a fellow with a jackhammer pounding away right now.

Until last month before we moved to our new home, the view from our driveway was like that:

(Of course not always with such nice clouds and lightning on the horizon )

This was taken from my front door window, while the workers were on their break.

I then went back to my front door and took 50 steps in another direction, which got a completely different result.

I was only able to make it 15 steps out the front door before it started to rain. But before it did, I was able to take a few shots.

Taken a few steps outside my front door (in '07, IIRC).

The landmass across the water in the centre is the Mull of Kintyre.

Not my coolest rainbow photo, but I like the lines in this one too.

... oh mist rolling in from the sea...my desire is always to be here...

I was on Kintyre just this past summer, with photos posted on the Color Photography Sharing Thread.

Well, I finally got around to posting my entry. In the spirit of the challenge theme (pictures taken within 50 paces of your front door), I give you my front door.
