I pray to the bong god.

But also have been know to join in heathen rituals involving LSD & Peyote.

But then I do also flirt with the religion of Pub.

Sometimes I partake of a biscuit and go to the Monastry. But that's when I am in the UK.

A lot of my friends believe that chewing Coca leaves brings you closer to God. So I get it imported in a dried concentrated form and stick it up my nose, giving thanks to ancient Mayan beliefs as I do....

Put "none" up there and I'll vote.

Although Buddhism comes closest to how I go about things. Probably the least mean-spirited of everything listed (hard to tell that about me from some of my posts; really, I'm a nice guy).

*edit* Ah, ok, I skimmed over the "secular/agnostic/atheist" verbage.

Oh, he's on there. Every religion invokes His Noodliness in one form or another, so all of the above options relate to Him somehow.

I'm an atheist.

I'm inclined to think that it deserves a category to itself, since it's every bit as illogical as a real religion, and requires a certain amount of intellectual commitment (more so than not thinking about the issue at all, or not being able to make up your mind, anyway).

Apparently Jedi is now a recognised religion also.. You'll have all the Star Wars fanbois in here soon....

I'd normally be quick to list myself as secular/irreligious/agnostic/atheist, but FSM's heaven with strippers and a beer volcano is tempting of late... plus all the extra holidays.

I dislike labels of any kind, so I just assumed that I had evolved into something unique over my 70 years.

Then several months ago I ran onto the word - "Deist" and looked it up
at -- http://www.deism.com/ ----

I suppose it's as close to how I think as anything.

I'm the product of a quite religious upbringing. Church schools, etc.

The whole bit has made no sense at all to me since my College Days taught me to think. But, what we are- why we are - where we're going has been something I've researched my whole life.

Came to the conclusion that all the named religions are superstition years ago. Am still not going to join any kind of Deist group. But they do make some sense to me.

That is probably the most thoughtful thing I've ever heard in regards to atheistict beliefs compared to other religious beliefs. I apologize about any spelling that part of my mind either a. never developed or I've kill it off with booze/weed etc.

Well said. Dogma in another direction is still dogma. Having said that, I'm atheist too, though I don't get preachy with others about my views.

I guess I'm neither agnostic nor an atheist then. Or maybe I'm both. I don't take it as a forgone conclusion that God can't exist, but I see it as a rather silly and farfetched notion that no one could have possibly arrived at. I mean, God has done nothing to indicate his existence, and if that's true, how do we know so much about him? It just makes no sense at all to me.

But I'm not dogmatic about it. In my mind, there's no way I'd ever be able to seriously consider the existence of a supreme being without some solid evidence for it. But I don't dogmatically hold the belief that a supreme being *can't* exist.

I also think that actually finding scientific evidence for a supreme being is basically impossible, so I guess I'm agnostic with an atheist leaning. But in reality, I simply don't think about it much at all. What use is there in pondering endlessly about something you'll never in your life be able to prove? Even if you do sort out some logical problems, so what? It's just pointless. I'd rather focus on things I might be able to understand eventually.

D'oh!

FSM is now an option, distinct from Other, and the secular/irreligious/agnostic/atheism.

May his noodly appendage help redirect premature votes or add multiple voting options for those who didn't get the pastafarian memo.

I am tempted to share my philosophies of the universe and religion but alas, I do not want this thread to become a serious discussion of religion, because then we will surely lament later on. Religion threads and Politics threads are like a brush with poison ivy. The more you scratch it, the more your forums fester.

I consider myself atheistic, but like, I don't believe 'atheism' has a creed or anything. Mostly I'm just very irreligious and I think the concept of god is absurdly silly. Of course, that's not to say I'm not open to some of the more liberal interpretations of 'god'. But the concept of an actual incorporeal god hanging over our heads, directly(and indirectly) influencing our lives, I have no time for.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster prevails!

Note: that's what happened to my dinner two days ago.

Oh, and I found out about the soon-to-be released Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster last night. Fun stuff.
