Hey Guys,
Mouth here. I was trying my spell check on my new Pages rom iWork '06. When I try to change languages I can't do it! How can I change the spell check to other languages with success? Your Friend, Mouth |

Hi...
Does any one know the answer to this? Does anyone even have iWork '06?! Thanks, Mouth |

Your question's a little unclear, though. Can you change the spellcheck language in other apps? Try TextEdit. Or Safari. |

I have the older Pages, but there you first have to select a section af text, before you can change the language.

I can change the spell check on Mail etc. but Pages is a little confusing... what if highlighting text doesn't work?

If you can't highlight text in Pages, you've got much larger problems than lack of internationalized spell checking. |

No, what I meant was if the program won't *let* you... oh nevermind.

Every time you press enter, it will revert back to the default language. This is a bit of a ball-ache, but you have to do it this way...
Open a new document. Open the styles draw. Write something, anything. For each style do the following:- Select the style. Change the language to the one desired. Right Click / Command Click the style (It should have a red arrow now, indicating its been changed). Select Redefine style using current settings. Do this for each, delete the text you were using to apply the styles to, and then save the document as a template. Next time you create a new document, remember to use your style, not the default one. My gripes with this, that although I have the "System" spell check set to British English (From the Spell menu in any supported app), Pages defaults to American English (unless using my own template as described above) and there is no way to change the built in templates. Finally, just to top it all off Dictionary.app, does not appear to have a British English dictionary! Grr. Try it, press ctrl-cmd-D on Colour and on Color. You get the definition for the American one, but the English just says "British spelling for color". We really need one central dictionary setting! OK, I have given up keeping this sig up to date. Lets just say I'm the guy that installs every latest version as soon as its available! |

That picture annoys me. Having English, and British english. ENGLISH IS BRITISH. It should be english, and AMERICAN english. Rant Over.

It should have its own classification, like Spanish and Catalonian. |
