I don't know much about Plone, but I did compare Django and Drupal when I was considering which to use.. I actually preferred the look and feel of what I saw of Django, and heard the support was better, but feature for feature Drupal offered much more.

I don't know what the benefits are over other CMSs but the reason I started using Drupal was that it had a Google Checkout module that worked. I got really familiar with it using it for a site I developed (isitdbt.org) so it was just a natural extension to my site when I was done with that project.
