In the perspective of adding an external HD to a PB12" via an Apple Display 20" FW400 additional plug (PB's FW400 plug already used), could anyone tell me if the transfer rate would be optimal?...

If so, would it be the same with one external HD on each FW400 plug of the Apple display?

Is it possible to boot this way?

Thanks for your attention.

The transfer rate shouldn't be affected at all. As far as booting from the drive, I'm not really sure. Sorry.

It should boot just fine since the display is just acting like any other generic FireWire hub.

But, if it acts like a firewire hub... the optimal transfer rate might be affected with two items plugged in it... right?

I believe the transfer rate is only affected through a hub if multiple devices are transmitting over the link to the computer at the same time.
