I updated iTunes to iTunes 5, updated my iPod, then went to work. I got here, started my iPod and began listening to a podcast. Paused it and walked away for a while, came back and my iPod was off. No big deal, my iPod does this all the time. However when I tried to replay my podcast, my iPod wouldn't turn on. I had the Hold switch off. I tried pressing Menu, Select, and Play for a long period of time to turn it on but no dice. Finally I searched online and found a way to reset my iPod (toggle Hold switch on then off, then press and hold Menu and Select buttons for 6-10 seconds until Apple logo comes on). The reset worked fine and my iPod turned on. Plenty of battery left. Started listening to my podcast again. Then I got curious. So I shut it down by holding the Play button. Same problem, had to reset to get it to turn on. This has never happened before, so I am thinking it could be iTuned 5 related but I don't know. Was wondering if anyone else had or is having this problem, and/or if anyone had any advice. Thanks!!

Same thing has been happening to me since iTunes 5. Actually, up until now, I'd just assumed that on two occasions recently, I'd left the thing playing by accident and the batteyr ran down... now I'm skeptical.

I have some more info. I found out that this problem only happens with Podcasts, not songs. That is to say, if I pause a song, then my iPod functions as expected (turns off, but then comes right back on). If I pause a Podcast (ANY podcast) this problem occurs. I read in another forum that now podcasts are being mixed in with the music library, I am wondering if my iPod isn't updated properly or something. Tonight the first thing I am going to do is make sure my iPod is fully updated with the latest stuff from iTunes. I believe I did this step this morning but it doesn't hurt to try again.

Hrm. Well, I don't have any podcasts, so either I did let the battery run down, or podcasts aren't really the qhole problem.
