I'll be taking the site offline in the wee morning hours of 2010-07-05 for a server migration, one major benefit of which is that we'll be upgrading from 360 MB to 512 MB of RAM. The forums will likely be down for one to two hours.

The quality of this board depends on the quality of the posts. The only way to guarantee thoughtful, informative discussion is to write thoughtful, informative posts. AppleNova is not a real-time chat forum. You have time to compose messages and edit them before and after posting.

Free updates from our host, Linode. They're upgrading all of their plans.

Two hours of chrome and buff time and all you're bringing is a 152MB RAM bump?

[Upgrade cycle whinge] 50MHz [/Upgrade cycle whinge]

Not quite there yet! I'm doing some manual* full backups at the moment, but then I'll be shutting down and migrating. I'd put the current shutdown ETA around 0300 EDT.

* I have daily cron jobs that pull down database dumps and logs, but I don't automate backing up the web files (PHP, CSS, etc.) since they don't change significantly very often.

It feels Snappier™, but it borked some of my settings. I can't get the live video tweets from Cap'n Drew now.
