I'm interested in picking up a few books on graphic design and typography. I've been trying to "design" on my own for many years, but I haven't really developed much. My background is in IT, Web development and print journalism (focused on writing and editing). The latter two have elements of design, but my formal training in design was either weak or non-existent.

I'll most likely apply what I learn primarily to the Web, but I'm not looking for books on Web design.

What should someone like me be reading?

Beyond good books for me, what design books do/did you love?

I enjoyed reading "The non-designer's design book" by Robin Williams
