I have noticed the software in the new iMac is a little lacking compared to the iMac G5:
iMac (Core Duo) Included software iMac comes with an incredible bundle of Universal applications that run on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs: • iLife ’06 • iWork ’06 30-day trial • Front Row • Photo Booth • Big Bang Board Games iMac G5 More software In addition, the iMac G5 comes with an incredible bundle of software: • iLife ’05, which includes the latest versions of iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie HD, iDVD and GarageBand • Front Row • Photo Booth • iWork ‘05 30-day trial • AppleWorks • 2006 World Book • Nanosaur 2 • Marble Blast Gold No bloody Appleworks! No encyclopaedia! Nanosaur 2 and Marble Blast Gold sound a lot better than Big Bang Board Games! What's going on? Have Apple dropped these apps cause there PowerPC? Will they run under Rosetta? Is this the death of Appleworks? My my! |

I've also noticed that the Macbooks Pros have lost GraphicConverter and OmniGraffle in exchange for Comic Life. It's weird, since they still have OmniOutliner. If they're dropping OmniGraffle, why not OmniOutliner, too? They're both universal binary.

Maybe Apple simply changed its contracts. Or, more likely, the old contracts didn't cover machines labeled "MacBook Pro" etc.

Guess I'll have to use old Frosty (Lime/Frostwire) to aquire the missing apps.

Didn't his Steveness say that all software that the Intel Macs shipped with was native? That could explain it.
