So. I have my second ever advertising scoop. Like the last one, it's entirely trivial.

They are casting for a UK version of the 'Hello, I'm a Mac' spots in London at the moment. A dear friend of mine read for the role of Mac. Unusually for a casting, they made him sign non-disclosure papers before the casting.

Voila. There's going to be ads with British Macs.

You heard it here first.

If you have anything important to do today, try and forget you read this.

I see he takes his contractual obligations seriously.

I reckon Brian Blessed would make a pretty good Mac.

Nondescript cool english guy with southern but not cockney accent as Mac. Ricky Gervais (aka David Brent) as PC would be truest to the US format.

This is very cool from Apple's market share point of view... Advertising in the UK!

Although, to be honest... The hollywood geek style of voice that the current Mac guy has is kind of the way I have always envisaged an anthropomorphized Apple computer to speak.

And the PeeCee guy is kind of English in the way he speaks anyway, and also how I would envisage a human incarnation of a PeeCee...

Why don't they just stick with them... !??!

That said, both actors are perhaps too famous and might distract from the message.
