Okay, the updated MacBook has a GMA X3100 chip in it, no big deal, since Leopard ships with GMA X3100 drivers. But what if that user has decided to install Tiger instead? Are there ways to install drivers for the MacOS X manually?

How often does Apple update the drivers, and how does Apple do it? Through software update? (ie. 10.4.8 -> 10.4.9)

It's probably not possible. Macs generally will not run any operating system earlier than the one that they shipped with.

You might be able to copy 10.5's X3100 kext to 10.4 and have it work (it'd be a slight violation of the EULA, but feh). What would be the point, though?
