Something really weird just happened. I was using expose to show all windows with F9 (not positive, could have been F10) and it spread the windows out as normal, except I could actually click within the window. It was a Safari window and I actually clicked on a link! Usually it is a pointer that lets you select the window.
I've never seen this before and can't for the life of me do it again. BTW, I will be incredibly embarassed if everyone knows how to use this feature and I am just naive. If that is the case, spare me and delete the thread. |

Nope, that would be a bug, although you can make this happen manually by killing your Dock just as you activate Expose (Expose runs as part of the Dock's process).
You just had perfect proof that Expose actually scales windows down "live", continuing to render them at their decreased size. They remain interactive. |

How do you kill the dock?

Short: type "Killall Dock" in the terminal.
Long: Find it in activity monitor process viewer, and terminate it from there. |

but heres the fun part of that, you have to trigger expose, get ur ass into the terminal, and execute that command before expose finishes doing its thing for it to "freeze" the windows. you can buy yourself some time by holding down the shift key when you hit expose

You can also have similar fun by minimizing a window and killing the dock before it's totally minimized.

How about this: kill the dock while expose'ing, then use the universal access zoom feature to zoom in on your windows. It's freaky-deaky...

Ok... How come I can't do this?
I try the command, and also using sudo but keep getting told the commands don't exist on my machine!! Well Killall Dock does... But doesn't do anything and my machine just does a Manwell from Faulty Towers when I type Sleep... 'Que?' commands are case sensitive. Most, if not all commands are lowercase.

Besides that. The Dock get's relaunched almost instantaneously.
