PS/2 keyboard?

Hello,
Proud owner of a three-months-old iBook here. Fearful of the fragility of laptop keyboards, I dug up an old PS/2 Windows keyboard from the depths of my garage, and bought a cheap PS/2-to-USB adapter with it. Which didn't work, either on my iBook or on my PC. But before I go back to the store to exchange/return the adapter, I want to know if this (using a PS/2 keyboard with adapter) would even work. So if anyone has experience to share, I'd be much obliged.

I tried googling and searching this forum, and didn't come up with anything. If there was a previous post dealing with this problem, my apologies.

I don't know the answer to your question, but a half-decent USB keyboard will set you back about $10, so I don't think it's worth the hassle.

Just buy a USB keyboard. Save yourself the hassle.

Mac OSX (or os 9 for that matter) doesn't natively understand PS/2 technology...it's just not possible unless someone out there has written a 3rd party app.
A 3rd party app would however only slow down the response time of the device...

I agree with the others......USB keyboards...cheap as chips!

i've tried this before. The keyboard will normally work, unless its really old and draws more power then the USB can supply, or voodoo magic, who knows.

In all, my friend's modern PS/2 keyboard worked, but the older one i picked up didn't. Kinda hit or miss.

I had a PS/2 keyboard and it worked with an adapter. I think it was a Microsoft branded one as well. Strange.

Get a MacAlly IceKey. It's the greatest keyboard you'll ever own. Yes, they're a little pricey, but if you shop around (NewEgg, TigerDirect, Amazon) you'll be able to find one for a lot cheaper. Believe me, you won't regret buying this keyboard, it's wonderful.

Come waste your time with me

... as long as we're on the subject "greatest keyboard ever", how about HH Lite2, works for me like a charm and seems to have the same kind of MSRP than IceKey for you lucky bastards living in the US. I had to order mine from out of country and it was near twice the US price to begin with.
