Well I got .Mac and went to install Virex. Earlier last year, I installed a trial of Norton. Whoops, I forgot to uninstall when done with it. So I trashed the folder with the uninstall command in it. So Norton now interferes with the installation of Virex. I know this is my fault. It seems that Symantec has ended the trial stuff for mac so I can't get the file back. Is there any other way to get Norton Virus off my computer without reinstalling Panther?

EDIT: Fixed. Deleted Norton

Now come on, Norton is a Trojan Horse, not a virus. People get these two confused all the time.

I have the same problem. I cant get Virex 7.5 to install because it says I have an another virus program (Norton) I erased everything I could find and still it won't install. Is there a secret file somewhere?

Go to HD/Library/ startupitems. You should see the Norton crap there. Put it in trash, restart computer, and empty trash. Should delete everything. I would download Virex 7.2.1. Virex 7.5.1 can screw up your computer with the smallest mistake. Do rpair permission before and after the install. Also, make sure you have BSD Kernal. System profile: Software- Extensions.
