I was just wasting some time today and I swung by Compusa. They had an MBP 1.83 ghz, 80 gig HD, superdrive for $1120, after the 20% off because it was a "manager's special". It had been opened and returned but I couldn't check the condition of it. (It's either perfect, as described by the salesman, or it's going back.) It was registered on 4/26, so it's got about 6 months of Applecare left. I was able to talk them into dropping the price to $1000 if I bought extra applecare (I know I can return it and purchase it with my wife's edu discount). So, my question is, is $1070 a good price for this computer? Should I keep it?

Sounds like an excellent deal to me, and honestly makes me rather jealous.

That's good to know (that it's a good deal, not that it makes you jealous ) . I'm a little wary of the condition of it. Are these susceptible to pocking or other discoloration like the original Albooks were?

(IE ate my post. Again. Grr.)
As far as I know, the shells of the Aluminum PowerBooks and MacBook Pros are virtually the same, so they probably exhibit the same strange reactions to certain types of human skin. Fortunately, my skin at worst causes a few bright spots here and there that you can easily wipe off with a damp cloth. Last edited by chucker : 2006-10-06 at 12:40. |
