I'm getting a new cell phone tomorrow, thinking about getting a bluetooth phone. Can i hook up my powerbook to the bluetooth phone and get my email and use my powerbook through my cell connection? Is it hard to set up a connection? What else can i do besides check my email with the bluetooth?

Here is a link to the phone im thinking of getting.

I'm not sure about using it as a modem - it might work if you paired it using the Bluetooth Setup Assistant.

It definitely will not work with iSync, which does not support any LG phones.

verizon phones seem to work best.

as far as being worth it, that depends on your need to connect to the internet from absolutely anywhere.

It's definitely not worth it for me - half the time I'm near a wireless or wired network, and the rest of the time, I can wait a few hours to check my email.

dialing an ISP will be slower - 14.4 K I believe - but a direct connection like Verizon offers is faster

Verizon offers the ability to connect at about 100k if you have a phone with "Get It Now". There are ways of using the features to connect to the high speed side. If you use your phone as just a modem then the connection is about 14.4k. I use Verizon and a v710 myself and love it. I would do most of this Q&A on something like Howard's Forums though. There are a few mobile phone forums but I got most of my info from there and it is really informative.

It's worth getting a BT phone to use as a remote to your PB. Salling Clicker is a very neat piece of code http://homepage.mac.com/jonassalling/Shareware/Clicker/ which allows you to pick up emails / manage iTunes etc from your phone.
