I just bought a Logitech 250 USB headset to use with Skype. When I plug into either USB port on my PowerBook G4, nothing happens. In system prefs>sound, it should list Logitech as an option for input and output but the headsets don't appear on the list. If I plug in other USB devices like my iSight, no problems.

I am using a PowerBook 5,2 - G4 and running 10.4.1

When I plug my headset into a USB port on a G4 tower running 10.3.9 it works just fine. Anyone know what the deal is? There is no mention on the Logitech site...and no driver downloads.

I have also run a hardware test off the boot disk and that didn't tell me anything useful with regards to the USB situation.

Is it a Tiger bug or am I on drugs?

I am sure one of the USB ports on the PB is normal and one is USB2. Have you tried them both. For me (PowerBook 5,2 also - 15" 1.25 GHz) the one on the left by the power plug is the USB 2 port.

After reading your post I tried both ports, although I am damn sure that I had checked both a couple of times...but just in case I had suffered a stroke...I tried again. Now they both work. BUT, last night before going to bed I ran Diskwarrior and Techtool Pro and restarted a couple of times. So that might have fixed the problem.
