Hi,
When I first bought my 30g ipod photo I downloaded about 25 cd's without turning the internet connection on. Because I didn't turn the internet on, these cd's were downloaded without song titles, genre, etc. I manually entered most of the missing info, but not everything. The next day I started downloading additional cd's with the interenet on - these newly downloaded cd's now have song titles and all the info listed in itunes. Except album art. Here are my two questions: 1. How can I update the orignally downloaded cd's to pull in the info from gracenote? I tried deleting these cd's (from itunes and from the my music folder in windows) and reloading them, but all I achieve is that the manually entered song info disappears and track 1, track 2, etc. shows up instead. 2. What could be the problem that's blocking Album art to show in itunes and on my ipod? I did a.)what the link below says to do, b.) updated to itunes 4.8, c.) turned off the firewalls and norton security and tried re-loading cd's, and downloading new cd's (cd's that I know have album art on gracenote), and still nothing. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300248 Any ideas? Thank you!!! |

1. Did you delete just the title, or the files too? iTunes asks you what to do when you delete titles from the list. When you rip the CDs again, it should retrieve the information from GraceNote.
2. For CDs that you rip yourself, you have to manually add the album art. It's only included in songs that you purchase in the iTunes Music Store. The page you link to assumes that you already have cover art, and that it just doesn't show up on your iPod. |

thanks for the fast response
I deleted the entire folders from "my music" and when iTunes asked if I'm sure I want to delete the file I said yes. In fact, I even searched for the cd before I ripped it again (just to make sure it is not on my c drive anymore) and it wasn't. Still, when I download the cd again, it had less info than before. |

I use Export Artwork to get artwork. Works pretty well, despite the name that directly contradicts what it actually does!
It's $9.95 shareware, and well worth it. |

I was also going to suggest Clutter - but he's using Windows!

You know, it's not really that hard to just Google for the image of the artwork and then simply drag into the file info window in iTunes.

I'm at work, so I haven't done anything yet, but now I know not to expect the artwork to come in automatically - which makes me a lot happier about my iPod. Tonight I'll start to copy and paste the album covers manually, and if it gets too boring, I'll buy "export artwork". Thanks again for your help!
