Hope everyone's well and had a good Christmas

I upgraded from iPhone 3G to a BlackBerry Bold 9700. I won't go into the reasoning here, but needless to say it's a better package from my cell company and (IMO) a better phone than the 3G or 3GS.

I have a query that I'm hoping someone on here can help with, since the BlackBerry forums I've tried have been, uh, not so good.

It's pretty fucking simple actually. I want to restore the OS on my BlackBerry. The only details I can find on how to do it say that you have to do it on Windows. Is that true?!

I've got the Desktop Manager, but it only manages backups and restores of data, not the OS. I think after Googling around a bit it's going to necessitate a quick install of Windows unfortunately
