What techniques/products do you use to accomplish this? Mine is in dire need but I don't want to hurt it so i've been putting it off!

I buy cleaning cloths from iKlear/KlearScreen, based on recommendations here.

If you can't get a hold of iKlear:

Put a drop of dishwashing liquid in a cup and fill with water. Dip cloth (I prefer camera lens cloth -- never use a paper towel) and clean screen.

NO, DON'T DO THIS. Just soft cloth and water is enough.

Sadly not always, someone with greasy fingers pressing on my screen meant I had to use the above method. However for normal dirt I agree, water and a cloth should be sufficient.

ScreenCleaner Pro from Ambrosia does a surprisingly good job also.

Whatever you do, no not use an alcohol solution and absolutely positively do not use an ammonia-based cleaner like Windex.

That stuff will eat away slowly at the LCD and eventually cause swirls on the screen where you had applied it.

Thanks for this thread.
My boss likes to jab my screen when he sits down to review things I'm designing for him... haven't worked up the nerve to ask him to stop but I think that I'll do it next time. <sigh>
