Not the google results, the google suggest auto-completion.
Click the bottom link and type 'w' but don't press enter. It uses an xmlhttprequest object to, apparently, pull up a list of the most frequent searches beginning in that string. |

yeah... oops... actually went to the link...
![]() it is very cool, like "auto complete" in the address bar... It would be nice if it suggested things without regard for the order you are typing things in. for example: college would produce college pro, college board, Boston College, etc... currently the "search term" has to have an order-based match in their database... This should not be hard to fix, but it would take a great deal more bandwidth to do it... 1215/234215 (top .51875%) People really have got to stop thinking there is only one operating system, one economic system, one religion, and one business model. -EvilTwinSkippy (/.) |

I can't believe B isn't for Britney. One of the most frequent searches out there

yeah, that is a bit odd...
I'm surprised at how "commercial" it is actually... I mean, usually I go to google for information... when I'm looking for a company I try <companyname>.com first... 1215/234215 (top .51875%) People really have got to stop thinking there is only one operating system, one economic system, one religion, and one business model. -EvilTwinSkippy (/.) |

I can't believe that P isn't for "porn" (though the association with Ms. Hilton is pretty close) nor that I isn't for iPod or iMac!

You're right - my mistake. I must have assumed that when I added a second letter to my searches and noticed it go alphabetical to a degree.
![]() Sorry about that - on closer inspection, I can't work out how the data is arranged. Quote:

But those are just results, not # of queries.
But, yeah, I have a hard time believing that there are more queries for british airways than for britney spears. If you look at the zeitgeist ever it's clear that celebrities are frequently toward the top. Maybe I'll try to dig up some more info if I have a chance. |
