Hello Everyone,

I just got an hdd, and I'm supposed to set it on master (so that I can use it with the ide->usb2 thing I have)

The hdd doesn't seem to indicate clearly how the jumper is supposed to go, so I've attached 2 pics. Maybe you guys can help me out.

THanks

I would say that its probably on master already! Is it not working?

If not then you will have to see if you can pull a spec doc from maxtor webby. However, I would be cautious putting anything valuable onto a 6yr old HD!

OK, I have given up keeping this sig up to date. Lets just say I'm the guy that installs every latest version as soon as its available!

My 12yr SCSI drive works fine. It's a bit slow by today's standards, but last I checked, it still works great.

IDE drives seem to die MUCH faster

When I was a kid, people who did wrong were punished, restricted, and forbidden. Now, when someone does wrong, all of the rest of us are punished, restricted, and forbidden... and the one who did the wrong is counselled and "understood" and fed ice cream.

I can really make it out in the photo, but I believe there should be another set of pins to the left of where your jumper is now. That would be the Master setting. As it is now it looks like you've got it on Cable Select.

So it goes.
