Pretty much. I'm currently in the stage of moving into a bigger space. In the mean time I'm a bit limited on what furniture I can have with me.

Not bad. Been my main computer since 2005. Still runs good as new, but it was time for an upgrade, as it's critically low on hard drive space, takes FOREVER to encode video and such, and doesn't run things like YouTube, Facebook (anything with Flash or JavaScript) very well anymore.

Once the new Mini (stupid logic board) gets here Tuesday, I'm going to clean it out and just keep the essentials on it for portable use. I'm probably one of the last people here with a G4 as their main system.

(And yes, the plastic case by the external HDD enclosure is for a MiniDV tape.)

I finally buckled down and straightened my desk out, even including unplugging and untangling the various power, USB, and FireWire cables in the back. Much, much neater looking now.

That's a mid-2007 24" iMac, bought second-hand at a Mac shop up in Akihabara (and let me tell you, this thing was a pain in the ass to lug home!), and a mid-2006 17" MacBook Pro that's traveled halfway around the world with me, and is still holding up strong.

(Also, you can chalk the weird perspective of the rest of the room up to the wide-angle lens I used to shoot this - I didn't have enough room to get the whole desk with anything else.)

There is something Weird about the Depth Perception about this shot that is making my eyes hurt! How about a slightly over head shot?

Had to move again... new setup.

Though I use my laptop for most common things. Still use my desktop for video editing and such.

^^ One more quality post from the desk of Ebby. ^^

Still pretty messy:

Did some cleaning on it though, and will be doing a lot more ASAP.

I dare not post my desk now - too messy, even for me. Tomorrow is house-cleaning day, so the desk will get some attention. Essentially, though, my setup is the same - just with a large-sized Intuos4 behind the keyboard, and a scale model Yamanote Line train decorating the top of the iMac until I can find a better place for it.

I prefer a messy desk. Everything is within reach.

The TV is awesome btw. 3x HDMI inputs, 1080p, picture-in-picture, and the picture quality is way better than my old LCD (I'm guessing it's a *VA monitor).

Why? Am I missing something about those guys? All I see are a bunch of iMacs (and an occasional Cinema Display and... Dell monitors?) on empty desks. BFD?

Boooring.

I don't trust any desk without a shit-ton of strewn papers and at least 2 beer bottles.

You're not getting shit done without those.

I'll post a new picture of my setup here soon.

I am one who generally think a desk that is clean is generally unused. It's one thing if everything were digital, but it's generally not.

That confuses me. A clean desk just means there's a proper place for everything, that's all. It can still be used.

Unless by "clean" you mean "there's nothing at all on top of the desk ever except for a MacBook" or whatever.

and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong

That's pretty much what the aforementioned pictures have that "we all should be aspiring to achieve".

Well yeah, that's impractical. But "clean" still doesn't mean "unused," unless you're the Poopsmith or something.

Clean just means you put everything away after finishing your work. I dint like everything strewn around like some sort of caveman. Also, I'd argue that having a messy desk where everything is in piles inhibits you from getting work done, you just spend a lot of your time looking for stuff. Can you blame me for being a neat freak? I have drawers and shelves and trash bins for all my papers.

I'm not a neat freak, but...yeah. Clean just means that theres's places for things, not that you don't have them.

Here's my new office setup. Shitty ass Windows. I hate it.

But I do get to use a nice Cinema Display.
