I think my battery somehow came unplugged in my ipod. What can I use to pry the Ipod open. I don't want to scratch it.

It was working fine the other day. Now it will only power up when it's plugged in.

Have you tried resetting it before opening it up? That'd be what I'd do first.

Preferably something made of plastic. A Screwdriver will damage the plastic on the iPod.

Whatever type of flat utensil you decide to use, there are several instructional videos online to help you along the way.

I got it opened with a screwdriver, and it looks like the white battery cable is somehow cut in half. I just ordered a new battery so hopefully everything will work in a few days.
Thanks for the help!

Maybe the iPod didn't like the music being played and just did the honorable thing.

The screwdriver didn't cut the cable. I don't know, for sure, how the cable was cut. Anyway, I replaced the battery and all is fine.
thanks for the help

I'll steal this for questioning.

My brother was getting my headphones for my mom which were on my bed. So he grabbed them and my iPod nano came with it and landed on the corner of some wights I have in my room. There is a large dent in the back of my iPod now, and only 1/4th of the screen displays properly.

I opened her up, is there anyway to tell if it's the display or the circuit board? I couldn't visually see a difference or any problems.

I'm guessing it was extra pressure on the screen by the dent. How does it display with the case opened?

Not any different without the metal casing on. I even had the screen out of the front body so it was free other than being connected by the cable and it was still weird. Now that I have it back together, squeezing it hard does slightly change the video seen on the 3/4 of the screen that isn't working but the 1/4 continues working fine. Heh, i tried putting the display cable in backwards to see if a different portion of the screen would work, but it didn't even turn on, I guess one of those fancy cables is the power for the whole thing.

If you guys think it's the screen, I'll just buy a different one and install it, but I don't want to buy a screen and that not be the problem. Is that what you guys think it is?

I mean replacing it isn't a BIG problem, it's only a 2gb, so a new one is $150, so that's not bad.

Admit it, you just want the new nano! You know you can get a refurbed 2 gig one for $99, right? I'm just sayin'...

Obviously that would be nice, if I'm going to spend $100, I might as well spend the extra $50 for the longer battery life and brighter screen. However if all I need is a new screen, I could just buy one for like $20. The difference is big.

I did this for my wife's iPod the other day...

I bought a battery and a pack of 'spludgers', specifically for replacing iPod batterys.

About 30 minutes later I had lots of broken spludgers and my wife gave me one of her wierd cuticle tools from her manicure set. Personally I recommend my wife's cuticle tool for opening iPods. It went much smoother with that...

Let me say, by far, the nano is the easier than the mini to open. Some of the cables are small en hard to get on and off, but it's all do able with a small screw driver to control those sliders that hold the cables in.
