I just wanted to know if anyone thinks that the mac mini will/ does have overheating issues. I know the G4 cube had a similar problem and this new mac is pretty damn small so, yeah. what do ya'll think?

Although we're providing speculation, this is technically about a released Apple product. As such, this is being moved to the "Apple Products" forum.

.Hack,
I would imagine not - you probably just need to have it in a reasonably cool / air flowed area (i.e. not inside a shoebox). Since they will probably sell a million of these things and have been working on it for a while, I'm sure they made sure heat would not be an issue with reasonable use / environmental conditions. they already had the G4 in a cube, and they have the G4 in powerbooks, so my feeling here is NO.

I doubt the Mac mini will have overheating problems. It has a pretty big fan vent on the back, and plus, the G4 shouldn't be too hot. Oh, and the Cube didn't have any overheating problems. It was super-awesome.

I'm hoping the fan (40mm ?) will be near silent but I'll give everyone a full acoustic report once ours ships (Mom's new machine). Oh, and since this is basically an iBook in a thicker case I wouldn't see how there would be overheat problems. /* styling for my posts */ .intelligence {display: none;} |

The power supply is in a brick (almost as big as the mini!) just like the Cube. There will be no heating issues.

Hopefully next release the PS can go in the machine.
Also, why isnt the video card on an AGP card??? That wouldve sold like hotcakes with a better video card. |
