here comes the black again
shadows covering all
there’s no light left
because this time i’m gonna fall

here comes the rain again
drenched in my own sorrow
falling hard, falling fast
never will there will be tomorrow

here comes the pain again
these wounds will never heal
they never got the chance
i never let them feel

here comes the blood again
you can’t wipe away these tears
no one can erase
what happened these past few years

here comes the black again
no one to save me from this hell
not this time
because this time i fell

I like clouds
but I also like mold

but I'm not to eat it
Or so I'm told

It's like fungus and it is bad for you
but oh so colorful and I so want to

Well, one fine day I sat right down
next to an opening in the ground

I took a silver spoonful but then I frowned
Because the mold sure wasn't tasty

Whoops, sorry Wrao....I mistakenly took you as the thread starter. My apologies.

It should've been:

Oh AppleNova,
why must nato64
taunt me in this way?

A lovely haiku:

You reach down to play with her.

Butterfly Love

Your eyes are like the sky
that our love floats
like a graceful butterfly

And when you're near
my heart's aflutter
Anyway, get me a beer...

You cheating whore.

You see Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care. - Peter Gibbons

Mary had a little lamb
she kept it in a bucket.
And every time it jumped on out
the bulldog tried to... put it back in again!

For greener meadows weep the willows
wandering through the nights.
Impossible to see the rain,
although we shone the light.
From simplest stones to knotted runes,
each marker charred by fire.
Anticipations never quenched...
I think the milk's expired.

I'm torn between telling you that some of those lines instantly reminded me of a top 40 song (as in, they're identical), and not, so as not to make you feel bad. Oh well, I guess I just sorta told you.

My favorite poet is Shel Silverstein. My favorite poem of his is "Invitation," which opens one of his poetry books (I forget which one).

If you are a dreamer, come in,
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer,
If you're a pretender, come sit by the fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin!
Come in!
Come in!

...simple stuff, but I love it. I've always liked the way he used "liar" in a positive context. Another one of my favorites of his:

Listen to the Mustn'ts, child,
Listen to the Don'ts,
Listen to the Shouldn'ts, the Impossibles, the Won'ts,
Listen to the Never Haves,
Then listen close to me:
Anything can happen, child, Anything can be.

If you're a S.S. fan, you know that most of his other stuff isn't as profound/preachy - most of his poems are lighter and more humorous - and I'm fine with that ("poetry should not 'mean,' but 'be,'" after all) but sometimes reading through his books a certain poem just jumps out at you, and these two were some of those poems.

As for poems that I wrote myself...I'll post some of them...someday.

Profound.

EDIT: 800! I'll make a wish. My last wish didn't come true...but I told it to y'all. This time, I'm keeping my longing for a new Powerbook a secret!

I suddenly realized I was the only one to take this thread seriously. Besides the thread starter, of course...

do you mean Green Day's "Wake Me Up When September Ends"? Yeah... I started with the line of "here comes the pain again" and went from there when i was feeling... well, just think and i'm sure you can tell what i was feeling.

too bad it was a year ago when the album came out. its so funny cuz everyone's starting to love this song and i'm like... uh, i'm on to newer stuff even though that song is amazing

I thought it was an Annie Lennox reference... "Here comes the rain again"...

Hm... Interestingly enough this collection of words that one might call a poem just came to me all at once, flowed right out of my fingers(title and everything), so, in that regard, I guess it's serious enough, I know.. I'm scared too. Anyway, and all that.

Just a piece of shade
Sitting under a tree
There are rotten things beneath
Fueling the air we breath
However, not exactly comforting
It's just another one of those things
Actually, you don't have to think
too much to have enjoyment
and, that's just the beginning
because we're all so happy

She'd never seen the things that came to her in her dreams
Life was just downtrodden and a rough means to an end
Nothing could change, not a thing could bend
For there's no way out, when you don't have an in

You're long on miles but so short on ground covered
You feel like your life and love are undiscovered
A shell in the sand, and no helping hand
There's nowhere to go when you don't have a plan

If you decide to pick up where you left off
The next thing you'll do is come to a stop
It might be easy for most people to remember the last person that said hello
But in your mind you can't even make out a faint echo

Burn on those thoughts, burn on those ideas
Burn on forever, and ever and ever
If that means nothing, then don't talk to yourself
Most ideas come to people
When they think about themselves

Gonna find my baby
Gonna hold her tight
Gonna grab some Afternoon Delight
My motto's always been when it's right it's right
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night

When everything's a little clearer in the light of day
And we know the night is always gonna be here anyway

Think of you is working up an appetite
Looking forward to a little Afternoon Delight
Rubbing sticks and stones together make the sparks ignite
And the thought of rubbing you is getting so exciting
Skyrockets in flight
Afternoon Delight
Afternoon Delight

In due time, I'll hear the awful Revelation rhyme
And the stomach that churns up the chyme
Will round out the end to an unearthly time
In which I was lost and had no strength to find
My God what did I do with the existence of which I was afforded
I hear nothing in response
Cold echoes reverberate off of my cold soul

What sent me hurdling through space and time
With the Elysian blinders on?
The inferno, the abyss, all of this will be mine
It will be an endless hellfire marathon
It has no end - so it can't be long
Forever isn't long, forever is never gone

Time to die, time to go on and be gone
Pack my soul and pack my mind
Memories would get me through
But memories last just a lifetime
Hell is always turned on

The hills bellowed a hymn through the trees
I heard it as I repented on my bended knees
It shook me to the core as I closed another door
With my mind tuned in and my soul tuned out
The inner being tried to shout out loud
Muted by the sins, I ended there
As the tumbleweed passed
A soul journeyed downard, my body laid still
