Just found this:
http://applexnet.com/index.php?name=...ticle&sid=1630 I'm really not sure about it, but that's a cool idea at least. Last edited by del-uks : 2005-10-19 at 12:58. |

Ooh, I like this idea. It's quite possible that this could be one of those things that absolutely nobody expects, because they're so focused on a Pro Photo app, new Powerbooks, and new Powermacs. The idea of using the dock to control slideshows off of it is also pretty trippy.
Or maybe they're introducing a new, high-end iSight that can double as a good-quality digital camera. That would also be cool. |

If this is true, darn it I just got a Pentax Optio S5i. Oh well. I prefer Pentax for my digital camera's anyway.

I don't think we'll see a camera from Apple, which is a pity because I think they definitely have something to offer in the design/ergo/control/functionality depts...

I for one think an Apple digital camera would be pretty cool (and YES, I know it would probably never happen). Don't worry - not all the moderators are iSpiteful.

All the research and money they'd have to put into lens manufacturing and other camera-related things wouldn't be worth it to enter a market that's already saturated with experts.
What could Apple bring that Canon, Sony, Kodak, Nikon, Olympus, Fuji, HP, and dozens of others aren't already? There's only so much innovation one can bring to an industry that's been around for hundreds of years, not the mention the little payoff they'd get in return. Digital cameras are already using more megapixels then anyone would ever need. If there's any chance of Apple making a digital camera, they'd co-brand one with Sony or something. But, it wouldn't surprise me anymore if Apple were to do something that 'would never happen'. Knowing Apple, theirs would be around 1 or 2 megapixels, have no LCD screen, and 2 buttons, but everyone would buy one because it's white. |
