Did Catalina break my external CD/DVD drive?
Join Date: Feb 2005
I have an external CD/DVD drive. I rarely use it, but occasionally I need one. It's some generic chinese brand.
I tried it today (to get some X-Rays I was given on a CD) and it doesn't show up...at all. Not in Finder, not in Disk Utility. Nowhere.
It gets power (I hear the disk spinning, light on on the drive) but nothing on the computer.
I'm going to try rebooting in Windows on my Boot Camp and see if that's more successful.
Any ideas? It worked last time I tried it, but that was under Mojave. I think. Might even have been High Sierra.
EDIT: Doesn't work in Windows either, but the USB port works fine with other devices. I guess it's just regular style broken.
