I've been complaining that Watch and iPhone have sort of hit the wall as far as new things/uses are concerned. I think both devices have reached the *mostly* limit of their usefulness for the average Joe.
However, glucose monitoring may be The Next Big Thing™, and it appears that Apple knows it! If there is a technology that is going to change the game for millions of people world wide, this is going to be it. - AppleNova is the best Mac-users forum on the internet. Hasn't the rumor mill been pushing this for 4-5 years now, and it's still not here? I can see it being useful for people with issues though. Still kind of niche, just like the current watch buyers. The feature that Apple watch needs is way better battery life, not more stuff.

This will be an instant buy for so many once someone is able to actually figure out how to make it work.
It will be awesome to have it without finger pricks. No more Twitter. It's Mastodon now. |

It would mean I would actually check. As it is, I don't check my sugars unless I feel "weird". I bet there would be interesting things to be learned.

Having been an EMT and dealing with patients that were only being seen by my team due to sugar levels I can see the benefit. I do also see it as a small market that *NEEDS* it. Sure we would all benefit from knowing that eating that candy bar did to us, or that soda we just drank. By and large though, it is small.
However, if Apple can get it in the Watch that is always on, then they will have a really strong hand in the game. It would certainly make it easier for those who do need it to take actions before they are reacting to deteriorating health. Of course, those who are "pre-diabetic" would also likely know sooner rather than after things physically start going south for them. I can't say I would buy a Watch just for glucose monitoring, but it would certainly help influence and upgrade. My extended family has Type 2 in it so any extra forewarning would be great. Of course, I also cut out just about all sweetened drinks and snacks. Not all, but I'm fairly minimal about it now. I can count so many people that don't/won't check because of this. A wrist-worn device with no pricks will be disruptive and game-changing. - AppleNova is the best Mac-users forum on the internet. I once blacked out in a Target due to a sugar drop, and I'm not pre/diabetic, so I could use this sugar detection + the newer epilepsy fall detections of newer models. (I have a series 3 still, OK?)
