Is the lastest C2D iMac capable of running Vista? Has anyone tried running the Vista beta on C2D iMac?

What I'm worrying is the X1600 mobile chip. Is ATi going to have a vista compatible driver when vista is launched?

Anyone planning to run vista on C2D iMac?

I'm not. As for if it's capable, I don't think so, at least not in the current version of BootCamp. I could be wrong but I don't believe it's possible yet.

Vista has been running without modification since Pre-RC1. Beta 2 also ran, but required some problematic adjustments. Note, however, that some of Apple's Boot Camp-supplied drivers currently don't work at all, and that some don't work properly.

That said, I've been using Vista on my MacBook Pro for months.

I stand completely corrected. Thanks Chucker.

And regarding the Mobility X1600 driver in particular: the one already supplied with Vista works just fine, and it was in fact updated recently via Windows Update. No issues that I've been able to weed out yet.

Yep. There is an issue, however: there is no current OpenGL-capable X1600 driver for Vista, even if you manually download Catalyst from ATi.

As far as the boot camp goes, Apple will definitely release a version of Boot camp that works with Vista once it's released, right? I mean that's the point of their latest PCguy-Macguy ad, right?

I have little doubt that they'll soon release a Boot Camp update with Vista-compatible drivers and utilities.
