My roommate is a pretty clumsy guy, he trips over wires, rugs, shoes, tables..etc. Most recently he tripped over a wire that then got snagged in a piece of bed frame, and yanked his powerbook off a piano stool and onto the hard wood floor.
This isn't the first time this 'book has been bumped around either. He doesn't have a case for it, and it's gotten pretty messed up from being ill handled on various trips. The book now has a sizable crack in the casing right above the Superdrive. And, while I'm sure it still operates more or less normally, it's a shame that it happened. Ironically, the latch mechanism seems to be working again, after having been half broken from a previous spill. |

Get him something else than laptop...
Poor guy. In Dutch we now say (after commenting on someone's behaviour and - bragingly - stating the same thing hasn't happened to you) "Afkloppen!" |

He's not a very materialistic person, and as such, doesn't really care about any of the stuff he does have. But he still uses that powerbook quite a bit, and now the case integrity is shot to hell.
But, you know, this same roommate has neglected to pay the cable bill in 2 months thus getting our internet and TV suspended. ( I would pay myself, but my name isn't on the account) |

He ain't just clumsy, I see. I have one of those 'negligents' as well in my house.
Can't blame them for neglecting everyday inconveniences though. Still: poor Powerbook... |

Yeah, he's a good person, just not a very good roommate.

Methinks you should get your roommate one of these:
They were pretty indestructible if I recall correctly. In fact, my dad's old PB G3 233 has a rather large flesh wound in the rubber on its top, caused by the bottom of an airplane chair. A TiBook or AlBook would have serious monitor problems after that. |
