Has anybody here used BatteryRefill.com?
You send them your old battery, they crack it open and replace the Li-ion cells with new ones, put the whole thing back together, and send it back to you. The pricing seems very competitive with new batteries. There's an environmentally friendly aspect to it that is appealing to the recycler in me, although they don't actually say what they do with the old cells. On the other hand, with all the battery recalls and spontaneously combusting laptops we've been hearing about, I have to wonder just how safe this is? They claim that their methods are even safer than buying, say, a new cheap Chinese battery, because they use the OEM protection circuitry in the original unit. Thoughts? |

how much savings are we talking here? i personally don't think it is worth it on something that can potentially catch fire, kill your computer and burn down your house

For an iBook G3 clamshell battery, $65 compared to (for example) $130 at OWC.
