As MSFT says, the Mac Pro is literally brand new...which explains why your seller wants $2400.00...he'd like to recoup at least most of what he spent. However, he has to find a sweet spot where a buyer will feel he's really getting a savings by buying the "used" brand new Mac Pro. When you could buy one straight from Apple for only $90.00 more, there's no incentive to buy a used one from a private seller.
I'd say $2200 is probably around the pricepoint where someone might feel it worthwhile to buy this slightly use machine, as opposed to buying from apple. |

What about tax? If you buy from Apple, you're looking at another $120 or so in tax (depending on your rate).
