Tweetbot was just released as an alpha version for OSX. I, for one, am really excited about this app because of the ability to sync with the iOS versions. That's my favorite part of having it on my iPhone and my iPad, so that they stay in sync.
That being said, this is an alpha version. I already see a few things so far that bother me or aren't quite up to snuff yet. - There's no notification, whether in the dock menu or the menu bar indicating new tweets like there is in the official Twitter app. - Doesn't quite seem that sync is working properly yet. - The settings icon in the bottom right of the icon doesn't appear to be working. Granted, these are just things I noticed right off the bat with minimal time working with the app. I have high expectations for this app and cannot wait for it to go final. Notifications will use Notification Center, and therefore will require a final, App Store (and 10.8) build. Kind of ridiculous, but not their fault. Might have been a better choice to go with Growl, though.

Well that's not so much what I was talking about. With the Twitter app, in the dock there is a red and white star that appears on the dock icon when new tweets are loaded, not mentions. Also, in the top menu, there is a Twitter icon that is either clear or blue for the same indication.

Oh, I know what you meant. I should have clarified that there will be some notifications (rather than, as appears to be the case right now, none at all).

For an alpha version, I think it's a great start. There needs to be some polish and added functionality, but I'm happy so far.
But what's more odd, is since removing the twitter app from my Mac a few months ago, it feels weird going back to a desktop application. |

The more and more I use this app, the more I love it. It will be a full-time replacement for Twitter on OSX for me. Can't wait til 10.8 and for this app to go gold.

I've already removed Twitter from my dock.
It's such a great app. Can't wait to see how it's going to end up. |

I think it's fantastic too, but it's sorely lacking in keyboard shortcuts. I navigate with my keyboard a lot, so the paucity of shortcuts is pretty frustrating.
Still, I can easily see myself buying it when it gets released. |

Tweetbot/Mac click-through behavior: http://vimeo.com/46139789 I accidentally favorite tweets all the freaking time.
Also, no Services (mostly). |
