I looked into this about a year ago, and I found some websites out there via Google that do this. However, I recall there being a convoluted signing-up process (and payment was requested too, I think -- at least with the sites I visited), so I didn't pursue it any further.

I hope they actually tell you how and that they figured it out.

This is possible, most providers will let you send a sms message through an email. for example with me to send a sms to my phone i can just send a regular email to 617792XXXX@attwireless.net or something like that I forgot exactly what it is but i can look it up later if you want/need it.

through this you can setup a website that emails that 'email address' which will inturn get sent to your phone. I have done this on my site and it works very well (with PHP)
