So, for the first time ever, I am using Garageband with an external HD. I am trying to record directly onto the hard drive, and what I am discovering is that when I hit the record button, it takes upwards of 3 minutes to start recording. Once the recording begins, there is no lag, no slowdowns and no problems, but the initial time between hitting record and having the recording start is unbelievable. Logic Pro does not have this problem, but I want to use Garageband for this project(for a number of reasons). However, if I can not find a solution to this recording delay, I may end up having to use Logic anyway.

Does anyone have any ideas?

This is running on a 2.0 ghz g5 iMac with Leopard and all the latest updates, 2GB of Ram. The external drive is a 1 terabyte 7200rpm drive that I am interfacing with Firewire 400, although it had the delay with USB 2.0 as well.
