I have a 27 inch iMac i7 with 2x2 gb of ram and an additional two free slots.
I would like to upgrade that and have found some good prices on Corsair Ram that meet all specifications. After looking through the Apple supportpages I'm left with this question. Can I install 2x4 Gb in the two empty slots and thereby gain 12 Gb, or will the iMac only accept the same-sized ram in all slots? |

The RAM does not have to match, so the combination you are considering should work.

Great! Thanks!
So as long as it is in pairs 2x2 and 2x4 i'm good to go? |

Actually, you don't have to pair anything, although if you do there will be somewhat of a performance gain. So 2x2 and 2x4 is definitely fine.
