Multiple displays are finally first-class. No more half-powered displays! Full screen apps finally work the way they should.

Yah that display demo looked excellent, in all seriousness.

New Safari looks pretty damn impressive performance-wise. Hopefully uber-stable. Although realistically we're at a point now where bandwidth is the major factor, as all browsers tend to load all the sites I look at (media heavy or not) really fast.

I like the new name, and I like the new theme of naming. Sequoia is a shoe-in for future release I'd expect, but I wonder about OS X Death Valley.

So far they seem to be hitting all the fix broken stuff and give tools to power user stuff over iOS-ish type doings.

Trying to punk 1P with their new iCloud password feature. Might explain the delay in releasing version 4. Announced a beta but now not sure it will happen?

I'd bet on Yosemite as the first OS 11 (XI?) release. Fittingly big and majestic. "Mavericks" is actually a little odd (I don't think most folks outside of the surfing community and Northern California have any idea what that is) so maybe they wanted to keep their powder dry in anticipation of the next wave of compelling place names.

Wow... instant reponse within notifications is pretty sweet. If Outlook doesn't use that I might switch to Mail.
iCal... within 100% less sucky UI. |

Maps and iBooks are very much 'catch-up' features, but very welcome nonetheless.

Is App Nap just Safari? I would presume not... This actually could suck a lot particularly if you have rendering apps or computational apps that you don't want to stare at while they are crunching...

I am totally digging the real life utility of everything they're showing. I haven't had a single WTF moment so far.

iBooks. Nice! Didn't expect that.
Big deal for self-publishing authors. Hugely expands the buyer market beyond iPad (which is growing pretty huge on its own). |

Just started watching the live feed. Forgot how groan-worthy these things can be, been a while since I watched one. But also, this presenter(didn't catch his name?) has been throwing several digs at skeuomorphic design, kind of funny, as if Apple hasn't been amongst the most prominent users of the design style for over a decade now they're like "lol, no stiches, who knew"

Anyone who imagined that Apple was in a slow process of deprecating the Mac in favor of iOS had better update their assumptions. This is a bunch of solid improvements.

Exactly what I thought too. I imagine they'll have a way to add an app to an exclusion list or to temporarily opt out.

"Mavericks"? Did they reach a licensing deal with Sarah Palin on that name? I see trademark litigation in their future if they did not think to tie up that loose end.
