All work documents are stored on my LaCie 250 gb external hd. The only thing on the actual computer are applications.
Where are apple mail messages stored, in a batch file in the library? Pros / Cons of having them directly written to the backup HD? Can I have them auto-mirror one another so that I have a working set on the computer and a real-time backup on the HD? Thoughts? Thanks so much. |

so what's the preferred data management route as far as all things email? have a home server where all mail plops into and just access it from there, like exchange? haven't toyed with it much and am considering making a move like this. majority of domains i use are currently accessed pop3, either purchased domain names or gmail accounts. thanks. |

I'm not qualified to answer any further, honestly -- I'll let the other guys give their tips.
All I do is move that Mail folder onto my iPod. Of course I can't read anything in it through the iPod's screen, but if I change computers (or the HD blows or whatever), all I have to do is drag it into the my new Library folder. |
